A Special Thanksgiving Best of the Web
It’s been six years (almost to the day) since I incorporated Idealware as a nonprofit. At the time, the idea of providing impartial info to help nonprofits choose software was more of an aspiration than a reality. But 15 reports and well more than 100 articles later—and about 60,000 nonprofits helped—it’s humbling to look back on the real impact Idealware has had on the ability of nonprofits to make smart software decisions. (As I write this, I’m at a conference where an executive director ran up to me to tell me that their organization now saves $8,000 per year because they read a single Idealware report. Really.)
But of course, I never could have done it alone. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I want to take a moment to thank just a few of those who have helped along the way. To the Idealware staff—Andrea, Chris, Jay, Kyle and Joe—who make Idealware a reality and teach me something new every day. To the Idealware board—Jeff, Steve, Tami, Thomas, Jen, Gunner and Peter—who have shepherded Idealware from an organization with no staff members to one with six.
To the partners, funders and consulting firms who have supported our detailed resources, too many to name—and to our bloggers and experts who have so generously provided their expertise and time. Eric, Heather, Robert, Mark, Johanna, Jon, Matt, Steve, Peter and hundreds more—we couldn’t have done it without you.
And of course, to all the organizations that make the Best of the Web possible by providing terrific resources—though I could probably list 50, in the spirit of the Best of the Web, I'll limit it to 10 organizations whose resources you should definitely check out. Many thanks for years of terrific content to:
Beth’s Blog
NTEN
TechSoup
M+R Strategic Services
Social Media Examiner
Social Brite
The Real Story Group
Technology in the Arts
Frogloop
Network for Good's Technology 123
Last but not least, many thanks to you. Our readers—those who receive our emails, take our seminars, download our reports, forward on our resources and donate to Idealware—are the core of what we do. Thanks for supporting Idealware.
